Since the pre-Inca times the mountain has been a place of worship and offerings. This tradition continues today. During this 12-hour guided trip you will see picturesque villages, beautiful adobe houses, herds of llamas and alpacas, along with a magnificent view of the glacier Ausangate. Starting your tour in the morning with a hotel pick up, we wil then drive through Peru’s rugged mountain landscape.
Our first stop is a small town where we will stop for breakfast

Absolutely amazing tour of an incredible place. Our guide Alfredo taught us so much about this beautiful place and how it came to be. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It's a tough climb up at the last km or so, but you can take horses if you feel the need. If you plan on walking, take your coca candy, energy gel and just breathe. Take breaks as needed. You can do this. You won't be disappointed when you reach the top. It's chilly and windy, so dress appropriately. Bring small currency to tip for pictures with the llamas and alpacas. Breathtaking!!!!

Literally breathtaking view. No words on how to describe it except to experience. Ruben’s team were ever supportive and encouraging the group to go on and we all did follow his lead. No regrets from me.

Our guides, Alfredo and Pablo, were excellent. Knowledgeable, caring, helpful and fun. An amazing hike, taking you to 5,000m. Rainbow mountain is beautiful (but remember that every photo you see will be heavily photoshopped for the colours…). We loved the scenery and experience, and the food was great. Do respect the altitude - prepare, take advice, and be ready. We saw numerous who suffered, multiple vomiting on the way down / at lunch.
