Rotorua Kaituna River Rafting Experience

This exciting activity starts in Rotorua, where you will make your way to the meeting point at Rotorua Rafting. Here you'll receive a safety briefing before donning your full equipment: wetsuit, booties, helmet and floats. Once you're ready, the adventure begins down the Kaituna River, surrounded by dense native vegetation.

The river combines calm stretches with thrilling rapids, culminating in the descent of the Tutea Falls, a 7-metre drop that offers an unparalleled experience. This is the highest commercially raftable waterfall in the world and is the highlight of an action-packed hour on the water.

Along the way, you'll enjoy not only the physical challenge, but also the natural surroundings, with breathtaking views of the subtropical rainforest and canyon. The experience is designed for both regular adventurers and first-time rafters to enjoy.

At the end, you can relax with a hot shower and relive your adventure by viewing the professional photos captured during the tour. If you're travelling with children aged 10-12, they can join in from the middle stretch of the river, just past the main falls.

This experience operates all year round, and in summer the water can reach a pleasant temperature of up to 25°C. If you require transport, you can request a pick-up from your hotel in Rotorua at least 24 hours in advance (at an additional cost).
