Step by Step

This experience of the Vatican Museums and Colosseum of Rome with multimedia video is designed for those who want to visit the great icons of Rome with their tickets already taken care of, but prefer to move around freely. You will start at Piazza d'Aracoeli, 16, where you will redeem your voucher and enjoy a multimedia video on Ancient Rome that will give you the perfect context for your subsequent visit to the Forum and Colosseum.

From there you will head to the Roman Forum, the ancient political and social centre of the city, where you can stroll among temples, arches and historic ruins and visit the tomb of Julius Caesar. You will continue to the Palatine Hill, the hill where, according to tradition, Rome was born and where emperors and kings resided; one of the best views of the archaeological site.

Then it's on to the Colosseum, the most famous amphitheatre in the world. With your ticket included, you will enter the interior to admire the structure from the stands and get a glimpse of the atmosphere of the ancient gladiatorial fights. It is important to note that this experience does not include a guided tour or access to the Arena or the underground, so you will be able to explore the areas open to the general public at your own pace.

Later, with your ticket for the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, you can head into the Vatican on your own for a self-guided tour: take in iconic spaces such as the Hall of Maps, the Gallery of Tapestries and the Rooms of Raphael, before finishing in the Sistine Chapel, home to Michelangelo's famous ceiling frescoes. It's a perfect plan for those who want to see a lot in a single day, without being tied to a group or the explanations of a guide.

I thought it was a very complete and well thought out plan. The video provides context and then the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums speak for themselves. I would definitely repeat when I return to Rome.

The multimedia content is very well done, it helps to situate you before entering the actual monuments. The Sistine Chapel was the most exciting for me.

I liked being able to see so much in one day. The Colosseum is impressive and the Vatican Museums are full of detail. However, it can be a bit overwhelming due to the amount of people.
