  We loved seeing the city from the terraces and then heading down into the city centre. Everything is on such a massive scale; it’s hard not to just stand and stare.

  The cathedral is impressive, although the upper part can feel a bit crowded if there are large groups. Even so, I’d go again.

  Climbing the 217 steps is a bit tiring, but emerging between the spires of the Duomo is a special feeling.

  I liked being able to go into each area once and explore at our own pace. The interior of the Duomo is beautiful.
