More about: Prices of the Uffizi Gallery

Although there are countless places to visit in Florence, if I had to choose one that is absolutely essential, it would be the Uffizi Gallery. It houses one of the richest art collections in the world, complete with Roman and Greek statues and other attractions.

When planning a visit to this museum, one aspect that is often very important is the price. Bear in mind that this varies depending on whether you prefer to buy a ticket for the Uffizi Gallery and visit on your own or book a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence so that a guide can explain the most important works to you. You will also find combined tickets that include the gallery and other museums in the city.

Inside, you can explore all the rooms at your own pace, stopping at the places that interest you most. To enhance your experience, you can always pick up the maps and audio guides available at the museum entrance. With your guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, from £48, you will learn all the secrets of the works accompanied by an expert art guide. In addition, with this ticket you will also be able to enter directly, without having to queue for long, which is typical of this museum.

The tour, designed by a guide who is knowledgeable about each of the gallery's spaces, will give you a clearer view of each of the works than if you buy tickets for the Uffizi Gallery and take the tour on your own. As with all art, these works are the product of a specific historical period, and to understand them fully, it is always helpful to have someone explain the context and why they were created. This guided tour ticket is ideal if you want to delve deeper into the history of the art housed in the gallery.

Of course, if you prefer this option, you can buy tickets for the Uffizi Gallery at the ticket office. In this case, be prepared to queue for over an hour, as this museum receives thousands of visitors every year. Another option is to buy tickets for the Uffizi Gallery on the museum's website. The only problem is that it is not available in Spanish, but navigating the site is not too complicated. As for the price, it varies depending on the time of year:

  • Between 1 March and 31 October: Admission to the Uffizi Gallery (including the National Archaeological Museum and the Opificio delle Pietre Dure Museum) costs around €20, although there is a reduced ticket for only €2 for EU citizens aged between 18 and 25. On the other hand, if you wish to visit the Pitti Palace, admission will cost around €16 (reduced, €2). Finally, admission to the Boboli Gardens costs another €10 (reduced, €2). The combined ticket for all three sites costs around €38, which is reduced to €21 for young people from the EU.

  • From 1 November to 28 February: In low season, admission to the Uffizi Gallery drops to around €12, while the reduced price remains at €2. The Pitti Palace, meanwhile, costs around €10 during this period (€2 with reduced admission) and entry to the Boboli Gardens will cost around €6. The combined ticket for the three areas of the complex costs around €18.

Is there an option that combines admission to the Uffizi Gallery with other museums and monuments?

If, in addition to the Uffizi Gallery, you want to visit the best works in Florence's other great museum, the Accademia Gallery and Michelangelo's David, you can do so comfortably from £125. You will also take a walking tour of the most interesting areas of the city. This combination saves you money compared to booking a separate guided tour for each gallery and gives you priority access. The city tour is also conducted by a guide.

A little information about the Accademia Gallery

Fortunately, once you are in Florence, you don't have to choose between the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery, as both, in my opinion, are must-see attractions in the Italian city. Specifically, the Accademia Gallery houses one of the jewels of art history: Michelangelo's David. You can also see other works by the same Renaissance genius, such as San Matteo and Prigioni, not to mention religious works by other great masters such as Botticelli, Fra Filippo Lippi and Pontormo.

What this type of ticket usually includes

  • Small groups (up to 15 people maximum).
  • Professional guide specialising in art.
  • Guided walking tour of the city.
  • Skip-the-line ticket for both galleries.
  • Ticket to the Uffizi Gallery.
  • Entrance ticket to the Accademia Gallery.

Can I visit the Uffizi Gallery for free?

The Uffizi Gallery is one of the best museums in Florence and one of the must-see places to visit in Florence. Every year, it offers a few days of free admission to its facilities. The calendar, which varies each season, is available on its website.

It is also worth keeping an eye on the news to see if the so-called 'Museum Sundays' will resume . Until 2020, admission was free on the first Sunday of each month, but it has not yet been announced whether this policy will continue in the near future. On the other hand, some groups have free admission to the gallery every day of the year:

  • Children under 18, regardless of nationality.
  • People with a disability recognised by Italian law.
  • Teachers and students of certain subjects such as architecture, cultural heritage, or art and literature.
  • Tour guides.
  • Journalists who belong to the Italian Journalists' Association.
  • Professionals belonging to the International Council of Museums.

We received the app for scanning but were not informed this was NOT the entry ticket. For this we had to find the ticket office where the code was scanned and exchanged for tickets . The Ufizzi itself was amazing.
