Step by Step
With the Reykjavik City Card you'll have the easiest and cheapest way to get to know the capital of Iceland: museums, public transport, swimming pools and ferry in a single pass. Choose 24, 48 or 72 hours and build your itinerary with total freedom, travelling by bus as many times as you need and entering the city's cultural venues free of charge.
The card opens the doors of essential venues such as the National Museum of Iceland (exhibition "Making of a Nation"), the National Gallery, the Reykjavík Art Museum (Hafnarhús, Kjarvalsstaðir, Ásmundarsafn) and the Maritime Museum. It also offers access to the Zoo & Family Park and several municipal museums, so you can delve into Icelandic history, art and identity at your own pace.
Another big attraction are the municipal swimming pools (e.g. Grafarvogslaug, Árbæjarlaug, Kópavogslaug): real social centres with hot tubs, saunas and whirlpools. Relaxing in a steaming pool after a day of sightseeing is an essential part of the local culture. Plus, the pass includes a ferry to Viðey, an island perfect for strolling past sculptures, birds and views of the Faxaflói.
Getting around is a breeze: with unlimited bus travel around the capital area, you'll connect neighbourhoods, museums and swimming pools without worrying about single tickets. And you'll even get discounts on tours, shops and services to stretch your budget without breaking the bank.
Activation is very simple: exchange your voucher for the physical card at any of the official points and start using it. Remember that the validity period counts in consecutive hours (for example, 48 hours from the first use), so you should plan to start when it works best for you.
