Step by Step

Discover Reykjavík’s landscape and natural surroundings on this horse ride. During this activity, which lasts around two hours and takes place in groups of about 30 people, you’ll have the chance to ride a gentle Icelandic horse. An instructor will accompany you throughout the ride and will decide whether it is suitable for beginners, intermediate or advanced riders. You’ll also be provided with all the necessary riding equipment, as well as coffee or tea when you’ve finished.

When you meet the instructor, you’ll first get to know the horse you’ll be riding. It’s an Icelandic horse which, although not very large, is very hardy and strong. It arrived in Iceland when the first Vikings settled there around the year 800.

After stroking the horse and getting to know it better, you’ll spend a few minutes with the instructor, who will show you the route you’ll be taking via a video . They’ll assess your riding ability to decide which route to take, as this will depend on whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced rider.

The instructor will provide you with the necessary riding equipment to ensure your safety on the horse. This includes a helmet, wellington boots, a raincoat and a saddle.

You’ll ride through magnificent moorlands, lava fields and volcanic lakes that are well worth admiring. Breathe in the fresh air of the countryside whilst riding.

Once you’ve finished, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a hot drink – either coffee or tea – to recharge your batteries.

With this booking, you’ll have the option to arrange a return transfer to your hotel in Reykjavík, although you’ll need to request this at the time of booking.

Long walk through beautiful houses. They give you a horse up to your riding level and while walking they will also gallop a bit.
