Experience Highlights

This afternoon trip will be dedicated to the famous vineyard of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The ruins of the Pope's formal summer residence dominate the typical medieval village. The 13 varieties of grapes combined with the various soils create a large palette of complex red wines and elegant white wines. Enjoy two wine-tastings in two of the numerous cellars of the village before going back to Avignon.

    We visited two lovely vineyards with Silvia, our very knowledgeable guide. Of the two, we definitely preferred the 2nd vineyard because it was a much smaller, newer business and therefore really gave us a nice introduction and mini tour of their wine production room. Silvia was fun and enjoyable. She went out of her way to include a few side trips to show us amazing hilltop vistas. Would highly recommend this tour and guide.

    Our guide was GREAT - and the trip to Chateau Fortia was unforgetable. Never mind that we were sampling Chateauneuf Du Pape (!!) - the winery's sommelière (Tatiana) was extremely knowledgeable and after the tastings she took us on an amazing tour of their wine cellars. What a great trip!!

    Our family really enjoyed Remy’s teaching us about Avignone and Chateauneuf du Pape. He was very friendly. We enjoyed the wineries and the people there too.
