Step by Step

Beautiful 360 degrees view of the city of Rio. It is possible to check the main beaches and contemplate the mountains from the top.
Located in the center of the city, its overall form is conical shaped. The cathedral’s size makes it very hard to go unnoticed. Its external diameter is 106 meters while its internal diameter is 96 meters. Its height is 75 meters. The inside area is 8,000 square meters and its standing room capacity is 20,000 people. The form of the Cathedral relates to the Mayan architecture of the pyramids.
Christ the redeemer is located at the top of the Corcovado mountain. It is the largest Art Deco sculpture in the world.
There are 215 steps which are covered in over 2000 tiles collected from over 60 countries around the world
Constructed specially to host the annual parade of samba schools each year during the festival of Carnival.
We will pass by the famous Copacabana beach, Ipanema and Leblon.

    We were tired from flying overnight. It took 1.5 hours to clear security at GIG. We were concerned that our driver/guide would think we were not coming. After exchanging texts, Vivian was waiting for us at the arrivals area and we made the most of our first day in Rio. She took us to our hotel and after checking in and a quick shower and change of clothes, she returned to our hotel and took us our for a full tour of the city. We saw all the main sights. The weather that day was a challenge and traffic was terrible, slowing us down, but despite that this was still an excellent tour. Vivian kept us well informed about what we were seeing and answer our questions. One piece of advice that I'll pass along...Vivian did mention that traffic flows much better on a weekend rather than weekday, so you'll definitely see more if you book this tour on a weekend.

    To do this transfer and tour is a WONDERFUL plan!!! Vivian was waiting for us at the airport and confirmed, as we had planned, to take us on the tour the following day as our arrival was early and we were exhausted from an all-night flight. However, she took the long way to our hotel so she could give us a little overview of Rio and some of it's highlights. This was a grand intro! And Vivian's English is super: she did live in LA for 10 years! The following day, she picked us up at our hotel with a diver, Edvino, who was also terrific!! He's a great driver on some steep, narrow, winding and busy streets! What a plus! And our tour of Rio was just EXCELENT!! We saw all the most important sights Christ the Redeemer was the highlight of all our trip! but never felt rushed. Vivian answered all our questions and gave us lots of background info.     Well we were picked up at the airport by Viviane straight to the car then to hotel my wife and myself the only pick up in an audiA4 nice clean and efficient a good running commentary on the way to the hotel dropped us so we could check in and quick shower for the rest of our tour an hour later. We did a quick tour of several areas all explained what and where we were, then it was up to Corcovado on the train and the views were amazing had a quick snack/lunch before we left for a city tour again shown things from the new cathedral to a bohemian type area Lape and then on to sugar loaf which also was an amazing experience. I have to say that Viviane the tour guide was excellent very knowledgeable and also very friendly I would recommend this tour as its great value met at the airport and a tour which covers all the main touristy to do things, in fact we got back after 6 ish absolutely shattered but well worth it as we only have a few days in Rio before picking up a cruise ship. If you do this trip try and ask for Viviane she is great value. Thanks Richard and Sue
