Experience Highlights

Get ready to step inside one of St Louis’s most unusual venues with these tickets to the City Museum, a vast creative labyrinth built from art, architecture, recycled structures, tunnels, walkways and adventure zones.

The ticket grants one-day access to the museum’s four indoor floors as well as to MonstroCity, the large outdoor area, weather permitting. Here, the visit isn’t just about looking: much of the experience invites you to climb, explore, navigate through passageways and discover unexpected nooks and crannies.

The visit typically takes around 3 hours, although you can stay longer if you want to carry on exploring. We recommend wearing trainers or closed-toe shoes, as many of the areas are designed for active movement.

  • Explore four floors packed with tunnels, installations and interactive spaces
  • Access MonstroCity, the museum’s large outdoor area

Step by Step

The City Museum in St Louis doesn’t look much like a conventional museum. It occupies a former industrial building that has been transformed into a vast space for exploration, featuring installations created from reused materials, architectural structures and surprising elements.

Inside, you’ll find four floors packed with passageways, tunnels, staircases, slides, platforms and areas where every visit can be different. Part of the fun lies precisely in getting a little lost and discovering spaces that aren’t immediately obvious.

If the weather’s on your side, you can also head out to MonstroCity, one of the most striking areas of the site. There, the combination of structures, walkways and outdoor adventure elements continues.

The museum is designed for both children and adults and blends play, creativity, art and local history into a highly physical and interactive experience. It’s best to come prepared to move around and explore rather than follow a traditional itinerary.

The visit can last around 3 hours, although the size and number of areas make it easy to extend it. If you want to make the most of it, it’s best to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes.

It’s a place that’s very difficult to describe until you’re inside. It’s a bit like a museum, an adventure park and a huge creative maze all rolled into one.

I enjoyed being able to explore it without a set itinerary. Every time we thought we’d seen every floor, another hidden corner would appear.

The children came out exhausted but happy. Between the slides, platforms and tunnels, they were active practically throughout the whole visit.

Some staircases and passageways require you to proceed with great care. You’ll enjoy it much more in comfortable clothing.
