Step by Step
Venture into the darkness of the bush and be guided by professional rangers on this 3-4 hour night game drive into the heart of the Western Shores of iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Unlike the daytime safari, the nocturnal wildlife comes alive: hippos graze on the banks of the lakes, elephants move silently and, if you are lucky, a leopard stalks its prey under the starlight.
As soon as you board the 4×4 vehicle, you will feel the crunch of the sand and the rustle of the bush. Spotlights will illuminate the bush, and at every turn you will catch a glimpse of herds of buffalo, giraffe or rhino. Your guide will share with you stories of conservation, animal habits and how the park protects this unique ecosystem.
The journey includes strategic stops to appreciate the night scenery, take photographs and listen to the hypnotic sounds of the African night: the grunting of hippos, the distant bellowing of elephants and the chirping of cicadas. The blankets on board will keep you warm in the cool of the night.
At the end of the tour, you will return to your accommodation with your heart pounding, knowing that you have experienced the most authentic side of the South African bush.
