Step by Step

Le Marais is one of the oldest and most famous neighbourhoods in Paris, located on the banks of the Seine River. Visit it in the company of your local guide, who will tell you about its history and take you for a wine and cheese tasting in one of its cosy bars, accompanied by an expert sommelier. In a small group of maximum 8 people, you will enjoy both the architecture and the gastronomy of this aristocratic quartier.

On this 2-hour tour, you will get to know the neighbourhood first-hand, where you will see buildings such as the historical archive of Paris located in the Carnavalet Museum, Victor Hugo's house or the Picasso-Paris National Museum, as well as natural sites such as the garden of the National Archives or Anne Frank's chestnut tree.

In the Marais district, you will be able to see the famous hôtels particuliers, palatial residences that were very popular with the French nobility in the 17th and 18th centuries, occupied after the French Revolution by merchants and craftsmen. Some 400 of them remain in Paris and almost all of them are in this district, protected as historical monuments; some are open to the public and you can visit them.

Roquefort, brie, camembert... Which is your favourite French cheese? At this wine and cheese tasting you will taste some local delicacies and an expert sommelier will show you how to make a good pairing.

Le Marais means "the marsh" and the neighbourhood takes this name because it was once a marshy area. Today it is known for being the LGBT quarter of Paris, but it is also the neighbourhood of art and culture, with numerous art galleries, design studios and restaurants, as well as synagogues and other remnants of Jewish settlements. As well as sampling some local delicacies such as shawarma, you can also do some gastronomic shopping at the Marché des Enfants Rouges, the oldest covered food market in Paris.

The beautiful Marais as I had never seen it before! I had been there before, but I had missed a lot of details that I had the opportunity to discover on this tour. All very professional and punctual. Thank you!

Fascinating everything this Tour has in store, it's like being suspended in time, in the Marais you see backwards and forwards and then come the bistros with their cheeses and wines Wonderful!

I think that of all the wonderful things Paris has to show us, this Tour is a perfect summary: history, architecture, landscapes, gastronomy. Thanks to the guides and organizers.
