The great advantage of these tickets is that you can enjoy the rooms of the building at your own pace and without waiting in line at the ticket office by booking in advance.

Casa Batlló is full of small details and sculptural forms designed by Gaudí in his iconic style, and you can even find some furniture designed by the architect. During your visit, you can see the beautiful interior courtyard and, if you choose the Gold option for these tickets, go up to the roof to see Passeig de Gràcia from above.

Double guided tour of La Pedrera and Casa Batlló

Visiting Casa Batlló without going to La Pedrera is like going to Figueras and not visiting the Dalí Museum. That's why combining two of Barcelona's most important buildings in a single visit makes this half-day guided tour of both monuments a very interesting experience.

At La Pedrera, you'll see the residences, corridors, rooftop terrace and courtyard, as well as the museum dedicated to Gaudí. Then you will visit Casa Batlló, located in the area known as the Block of Discord because it is home to buildings by other modernist artists such as the Amatller House by Josep Puig i Cadafalch and the Lleó Morera House by Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

Casa Batlló is different from La Pedrera in that it is not a building designed and built by Gaudí, but rather a remodelling of an existing building to which the architect added the façade, modified the interior courtyard, created its iconic rooftop terrace and included all kinds of decorative elements.

Booking your ticket to Casa Batlló is very easy if you follow the steps, selecting the date, time and number of visitors. You will then receive a confirmation email that you can print out or show directly at the ticket office.

As with La Pedrera, it is essential to buy tickets for Casa Batlló in advance to avoid waiting in not one but two queues to buy your tickets at the ticket office and then enter the building.

Both the Early Bird ticket and the VIP ticket and the combined ticket for Casa Batlló and La Pedrera that I recommend above give you skip-the-line access, which is definitely worth it to make the most of your trip without unnecessary waiting. What's more, if you go during the week, you'll be sure to find far fewer people at either attraction.

How to get to Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló is located at Passeig de Gràcia, 43, just a few doors down from La Pedrera. To get there by metro, the best option is to go to Passeig de Gràcia station on lines 2, 3 and 4, take the RENFE train to Passeig de Gràcia or take buses 7, 22, 24, H10 and V15.

Casa Batlló opening days and times

Casa Batlló is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, and the last admission is at 16:00.

A typical visit to Casa Batlló lasts about an hour, although I recommend allowing at least half an hour more to explore it at your leisure and stop on the roof terrace to marvel at its structures and decorations.

Where to eat near Casa Batlló

As in my guide to La Pedrera, these are the two best restaurants in the Eixample area, in my opinion:

  • El Principal de l'Eixample, a restaurant with a charming interior courtyard and market cuisine featuring typical Catalan dishes with a modern twist. It's not cheap, but rather than paying over the odds in a tourist restaurant, I wouldn't think twice about it.
  • La Pepita, a place for tapas and sandwiches, but very well presented and prepared, perfect if you don't want to spend so much money on a sit-down meal and prefer to snack and continue exploring Barcelona.

Practical information for visiting Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló has an impressive modernist lift that hides a travel hack inside: if you start your visit by taking it up to the rooftop and then tour the house from top to bottom, you'll have the rooftop all to yourself for a while and you'll also encounter far fewer tourists during your tour.

Inside Casa Batlló there is a gift and souvenir shop, but there is usually a long queue and the prices are quite high. In my opinion, it is not worth wasting time on your trip to Barcelona to visit the shop, as you can find most of the prints in other shops.

Like La Pedrera, Casa Batlló also offers night tours and concerts on the rooftop on certain nights of the year. Tickets are somewhat difficult to get as they don't always coincide with your travel dates, but it may be worth it.

What to see inside Casa Batlló

Keep an eye out for the most photogenic spots in Casa Batlló. If you're on the hunt for the best shots for your Instagram feed, take note:

  • The rooftop: the textures of the marble and the sinuous dragon tail shapes on the rooftop of Casa Batlló are truly marvellous.
  • The interior courtyard: the blue tones of the cladding are perfect for a feed focused on blue.
  • The main floor living room: whether it's the open space or the swirling ceiling lamp, you'll find plenty of details to photograph.
  • The attic: its beautiful pure white arches are a fantasy for the eyes and for your mobile phone camera.
