Experience Highlights

Come with us for your Aurora hunt for an amazing and ethical experience underneath the Aurora Borealis. Leave the light pollution in Tromsø behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. During this tour, our small team of Aurora guides check the forecasts & use local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights. When we find the best spot, we will dress in warm thermal suits and boots, make a cosy campfire, and enjoy a homemade meal. You'll be shown how to use your camera, photograph the Aurora, and our guides will take photos of you, available for free in web-sized resolution after the tour. During our time together in the wilderness, we will collect data for a citizen science project and help protect the Arctic nature through responsible tourism. Enjoy our hot chocolate before being returned to Tromsø island to your hotel. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing this phenomenon, our experienced team will do their best every night of the season.

We had really low possibilities to see Northern Lights during the week since it was cloudy in Tromso for all the week. The company was super honest offering us the possibility to postpone or even cancel the tour but we decided to go. They made their best to move to the best place to see them (even northern Finland), made the way funny and everything was really well organized: warm bus, hot dinner, hot chocolate, coffee, cookies... caring all the details. Lucas started his science explanation about NLs and suddenly they appeared and we could enjoy green NLs for a while! It was a really good experience with them. Thank you so much!!!

On a cloudy night we went west from Tromso as far as we could, and our excellent Wandering Owl guide Bart set up camp in the snow, down by the shore. Although we had layers of warm clothing already, Bart supplied suits for us to put on as well, which was great as we were then able to spend all night outside in the snow very comfortably. Bart also set up a lovely camp fire (in a metal bowl so it didn't damage the environment). We had coffee, soup and hot chocolate during our camp. The soup was Bart's favourite 😂😂😂, a really tasty vegetarian soup made with suede / turnip. We could alternate between sitting around the campfire and getting away in the snow to take photos of the northern lights which came in waves during our stay. Bart was informative and engaging and an excellent host. Due to the deep covering of snow we didn't engage in any science, but it was still great fun. I have attached one of Bart's photos of us beside our camera. Great night out..... and home by 2am.

What an experience, the weather predicted little to no chance of seeing the lights, but the team (Bart and Marcin) worked extremely hard to make sure we had the best chance even when the odds were stacked against us. We ended up in Finland where we got to experience the Aurora and even the dancing lights! Huge thanks to Marcin for his driving and Bart for his enthusiasm and knowledge, these guys will work super hard to make your dreams a reality. Thank you

We had a time of our life as we were able to see the northern lights just 30min outside of tromso. The guide Lucas along with driver Michael and one trainee were very informative and gave us all the knowledge about northern lights. We had delicious soup for dinner with bread. Although I felt that wasn’t enough. Because just the soup and a bread isn’t enough. Later in the night they also gave us Hot chocolate and cookie and cookie was 10/10. They also provided us with tripods(I reserved before hand), boots and warm overall There was not much info on Aurora science as they have shifted gears towards Snow testing. I would recommend the owl team to remove Aurora science from the caption and mention about snow testing or something All in all it was a good tour and I would highly recommend them
